Description
The historic half-timbered house with its idyllic apartment is located in Windeck-Langenberg, up in the hills of the natural landscape Sieg (west of Cologne/Bonn), in the recreational area of the 'Windecker Ländchen" with forests and grassland, and the nature park 'Bergisches Land' - a retreat where one can slow down and unwind in the magnificent countryside! It is situated at the edge of the village, in the immediate vicinity of the Natursteig Sieg & adventure trail 'Landlebenweg'. This enchanted apartment is decorated with a combination of antique and modern elements. Here you will find tranquillity & romanticism in front of the crackling fireplace, or you can relax in the adjacent cottage garden with pond. A little oasis ideal for hikers, nature lovers & individualists!
Think of the environment and travel by train - I'll be happy to pick you up at the train station.
Special features
A hiker's paradise:
The beautiful circular hiking trail 'Landlebenweg' (15 km) runs past the house and consists of several picturesque legs across hilly fields and along babbling brooks - and you will be rewarded with stunning vistas.
The region Bergisches Land with the Panarbora Park, the long-distance trail 'Bergischer Panoramasteig' and the adjoining 'Streifzüge' (themed paths) are also in the near vicinity.
Convenient train connection Cologne-Siegen in the Sieg valley - ideal for experiencing the Natursteig Sieg with its numerous hiking stages.
Tourists will find that they can also easily reach the major cities on the Rhine, Cologne/Bonn or the fairs in approx. 50 min.,trains run 3 times/day.
Our rustic half-timbered house has rooms with low ceilings, which give this historic building its special charm.
This means you might have to duck your head as you walk between the wooden beams and doors ...

From spring to autumn, a 2 CV 6 - vintage car ("Ente"/Duck) is available for excursions in dry weather conditions.

Our village Langenberg will delight you with its vistas, including Windeck Castle, the rural surroundings and far into the distance.
The 'Windecker Ländchen' with its idyllic, winding Sieg valley is perfect for long hikes (Natursteig Sieg, about 200 km long, and the wonderful circular adventure trails) & bike tours. And in the neighbouring village you can go on an unforgettable Alpaka hiking tour.
Getting there
Be environmentally aware and arrive by train:
Rail route Köln (Cologne)-Siegen, we are halfway between the two cities, about 1 hour from Cologne central station or Siegen; from Cologne central station take line S12 or 19 (towards Au) or the RE9 (towards Siegen/Gießen);
Three times per hour to Windeck-Schladern train station
This is ideal for people visiting the fair in Köln-Deutz - from Windeck-Schladern, the train ride takes roughly 50 minutes!
By plane:
Cologne/Bonn Airport
There, you can take the S-Bahn (suburban train) towards Au - to Windeck-Schladern; (total travel time is about 55 min.).
Of course we'd be happy to pick you up at the train station Windeck-Schladern!

Information from the host
Terms of cancellations:
If you cancel up to 2 months prior to arrival, you won't be charged a cancellation fee.
After that date:
In case of a no-show or if you fail to redeem the voucher, you will have to pay 90% of the booking price/voucher amount unless
In case of an early departure or late arrival, you will be charged the full amount of your booked stay.

Our house is filled with decorations and furnished with antiques.
I therefore ask for your understanding that children must be at least 10 years old.

Our family has been living in this idyllic house for five generations and its gorgeous property together with the stunning view into the Sieg valley inspired the idea to share this special place with nature-loving people who are looking for relaxation and a unique ambience. Yes, I am a creative romanticist with a sense of beauty or for what makes things special! Our former guests noticed that this place exerts a particular fascination. My home village Langenberg with its extensive fields brings back wonderful childhood memories: The many times I've watched my Grandpa, a gifted blacksmith, at work or when I sat behind him on his moped as we rode across the fields; when I sat on hay bales, breathing in the scent of summer, or when I helped with harvesting potatoes... Don't you agree that country life is wonderful - do you have similar memories?
